Ruben Dias has extended his contract with Manchester City which will see him remain with the club until the summer of 2027.
The Premier League champions confirmed the contract renewal with the 24-year-old centre-back in a statement on Twitter on Monday.
‘We are delighted to announce that @rubendias has signed a new six-year contract!
‘Having joined from Benfica last September, Dias’ new deal will keep him at the club through until the summer of 2027,” the statement read.
Speaking about the contract renewal, Dias expressed delight that the club was confident enough to ensure it happened.
“It means a lot and it speaks for itself. I am very happy, and I am also very happy that the club felt the confidence to do it,” he was quoted by City’s website.
“The club wants to be the best and that is an ambition I love and want to be a part of. I share the ambition of the club and that is probably one of the most important things.”
In a tweet, the Portuguese wrote, “Delighted to extend my stay after a great first year in Manchester.
“Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so at home.
“Now we look forward. The work has only just begun.”
