Manager of Chelsea FC speaks on being fired

Chelsea Manager, Thomas Tuchel has said it does not matter whether he signs a long or short term contract, adding that the club will still sack him if they don’t like him.

The Manager led Chelsea to a 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16 first leg in Spain on Tuesday night.

The victory means that the German has not tasted defeat as the Blues manager.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager also revealed that the board of the former Premier League and Champions League holders are demanding that he plays and gets the best out of their two expensive players Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

Asked about his short term contract, the German said, “It affects me, but in a very positive way,” Tuchel told Ferdinand 5 Live podcast.

“I didn’t like it at first, but after only a matter of minutes, I realised ‘what does it change anyway?’ If they don’t like me, they will sack me even if I have a five-year contract!”

Havertz and Werner arrived at Chelsea last summer with high expectations but they have yet to really show their full potential.

Asked if the Blues board wants more of the players on the field, the former Borussia Dortmund manager said, “The club demands a lot of [Werner and Havertz], and I can understand,” said Tuchel.

“They spent a lot of money, so it’s time to step up and fight for it.”
