Trading activities on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday halted days of market uptrends with a marginal loss.
The major performance indicators, the NSE All Share Index and market capitalisation, fell by 0.01 per cent to close in the red.
However, the market breadth closed positive with 23 gainers against eight losers.
Consequently, the All-Share Index dipped by 3.73 basis points or 0.01 per cent to close at 38,800.01 index points as against 38,803.74 recorded the previous day.
Market capitalisation of equities depreciated by N2bn from N20.28tn the previous day to N20.28tn as market sentiment remained on the negative territory.
Meanwhile, a turnover of 389.73 million shares exchanged in 2,928 deals was recorded in the day’s trading.
The premium sub-sector was the most active (measured by turnover volume); with 156.07 million shares exchanged by investors in 1,148 deals.
The volume in the sub-sector was largely driven by activities in the shares of Lafarge Africa Plc and Zenith Bank Plc.
