NAF to investigate alleged killing of 20 officers

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday said it was investigating report that it killed 20 Army personnel by accident in an air strike at Mainok, Borno State


Report had emerged that an Air Force fighter jet on a mission against Boko Haram extremists mistakenly bombed men of the Nigerian Army, killing over 20 officers. Hence the NAF investigation.

The troops were said to have been reinforced from Ngandu village to Mainok, which was under attack by militants from the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Reacting, NAF in a tweet on Monday said the general public will be duly updated after it concludes its investigation on the incident.
