2 million tested for COVID-19 among 200 million Nigerians: NCDC
The agency claimed it had delivered on its self-imposed target of two million tests in the country.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle late on Monday.
On April 28, the NCDC said it had targeted conducting tests for two million Nigerians in three months regarding testing capacity in the country.
The two million will come to about 50,000 per state, which it noted was an ambitious target.
The NCDC stated that the country’s COVID-19 cases had increased by 69, making a total of 165,778 confirmed cases as of May 17.
The 69 additional cases came from three states and the Federal Capital Territory. Ondo topped with 35, followed by Lagos 30, Rivers and the FCT reported three and one, respectively.
It noted that the death toll in the country had risen to 2,067.
The agency said the total number of recoveries from the virus was 156,415.
The NCDC added that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continued to coordinate the national response activities.
According to the agency, there are about 7,224 active COVID-19 cases in the country.
