Liverpool will have to make do without Sadio Mane after the club confirmed the player would be out for the rest of the season.
The Senegalese international is scheduled for an operation on his knee on Tuesday and would be out for two months effectively ruling him out. Mane suffered an injury to his left knee cartilage after colliding with Everton’s Leighton Baines in the 3-1 home win in the Merseyside derby.
It would be a concern for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as his team were able to record its first win in a game Mane would not start against Stoke City.
Liverpool have lost two games and drawn three in the remaining five games the Senegalese did not feature. The Reds are currently third in the Premier League with six games left to play.
Mane joined the club for £34m from Southampton last summer and has been touted to be this year’s signing of the season.
