Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, urged the new Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, to work for the unity of Nigeria.

Obasanjo, who spoke at the thanksgiving service to mark the coronation of the monarch as the 21st Olu of Warri in Warri, urged him to always work towards the unity of his kingdom and nation building.

He said the reign of the new Olu would be long and peaceful, adding that it will bring unity and prosperity to Itsekiri land and contribute to development, unity and prosperity of the entire country.

Speaking, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, congratulated Ogiame Atuwatse III on his coronation as the 21st Olu of Warri.

BESIDES, Okowa, who paid tributes to the late former military administrator of Benue and Kano states, Brig-Gen Dominic Oneya (rtd.), described his death as “an impactful loss to the entire country.

Okowa stated this yesterday when he paid a condolence visit to the deceased’s family in Effurun, Uvwie Council, adding: “Oneya lived a life of great impact in all the positions he held in the country. He epitomised humility and sincerity during his lifetime.”

He pointed out that the late Oneya affected many lives positively in public service and community, and was a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

“We pray that God will continue to encourage all of us and fill the gap he has left, because as human beings, we are unable to, but the spirit of God will fill the gap for us and especially his family,” he said.

He said the state government would support the family to give late Oneya, who was Chairman, Nigeria Football Association (NFA), a befitting burial.
