Oyetola accused of causing division among APC members in Osun

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has been accused of neglecting some All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the state, creating divisions among them

Oyetola was also accused of not yielding to appeals after several attempts at restoring peace.

These accusations were levelled against him by Barrister Kolapo Alimi, a member of The Osun Progressives (TOP) in the Osun APC and a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the Rauf Aregbesola administration, during a radio current affairs programme on Wednesday in Osogbo, the state capital.

Alimi also alleged that Oyetola bought all ward congress forms for members of the Ileri Oluwa group, adding that he has proof that N26.8 million was paid via United Bank for Africa (UBA) for the forms.

The former commissioner also revealed that TOP members bought their forms from the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.

He disclosed that the governor had personally accused former governor, Aregbesola of sponsoring him to plot against the interest of his administration.

According to him, “The Adegboyega Oyetola administration is viewing his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola as an opposition. The act alone justifies hypocrisy and labelling people as ingrates.”

Alimi alleged that Osun APC is suffering because of its decision during the 2018 election not to zone the governorship slot to Osun West Senatorial District.

On the just concluded APC ward congresses in the state, Alimi explained that in Osun, the party decided to adopt a consensus approach in order for peace to reign.

He however disclosed that while the Ileri Oluwa group had a consensus congress, TOP had a real congress in their collation centres.

However, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo Adeleke stated that Oyetola did not divide the party as alleged by Alimi.

He accused TOP of intending to put the party in disarray.

The commissioner explained that the purchase of the ward congress forms was done by the party and that the leader of the party in the state is the governor.

He accused the leadership of TOP of not working with the leadership of the APC in the state adding that their reason was because they sought and lost out on their quest for political appointments.

Alimi, Adeleke maintained, is the backbone of the problem in the APC due to him feeding the former governor with wrong information, adding that the governor has made several efforts at reconciling with aggrieved members.

However, Alimi has made it clear that TOP would be challenging the results of the Osun APC ward congresses with the Appeals Committee of the party from the National Secretariat.
