Sanwo-Olu mourns with Deputy Hamzat over father’s death


Lagos Governor Elect, Babajide Sanwo-Olu mourned the passing of his deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat father. The Deputy Governor Elect lost his father, Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat on Sunday.

Until his death he was the traditional ruler of Afowowa Kingdom in Ogun State. He died at 86.

In his verified Twitter handle@drobafemihamzat,Hamzat, expressed gratitude to God for the life his departed father lived .

”Today ,I lost my father, Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat. I thank Allah, the most gracious for the life he lived .

”One of the greatest things a father can give his children is courage and belief in their dreams .

”Thank you father for believing in ours ”,he tweeted .

Governor Elect Babajide Sanwo-Olu expresses his condolence to Obafemi Hamzat and family at the funeral. He shared on his instagram page.

“As we lay Kabiyesi, Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat to rest this morning, I pray that his soul continues to find rest in the Almighty.

To my dear friend, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and family, my prayer is that you find solace in the fulfilled and productive life Kabiyesi lived.
And may we never have cause to mourn over our loved ones again. Amen.”

Late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat was a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC),the highest decision making organ of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was  also a  prominent member of the party’s elders’ council in the state . He was a former National Vice Chairman of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) before it morphed into Action Congress (AC),later Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now All Progressives Congress
