Zamfara governor gives condition to resign

Matawalle, Zamfara Governor, says he is not power hungry.

Bello Matawalle, the Zamfara governor, has said that he would resign his position if that will bring peace to the State.

Matawalle, who spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today, disclosed this when asked if he is intimidated by the Federal Government’s declaration of a ‘No-Fly Zone’ in Zamfara.

He explained that he was not power-hungry, adding that he has been having a sleepless night to protect the people of Zamfara.

The governor said: “I am ready to accept any solution that will bring security to my state.

“I am not intimidated. If I know that my resigning as a governor will make the people sleep with their two eyes closed, I can resign. I am ready to do what will bring security.

“I am not power-hungry. I have been having a sleepless night to protect the people of Zamfara State.”

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered a no-fly zone in Zamfara State and banned illegal mining following issues of insecurity in the State.

Buhari had issued the order during the Security Council meeting in Abuja, on Tuesday.

The National Security Adviser (NSO), retired Maj. -Gen. Babagana Monguno had disclosed this to newsmen.
