Nigeria beat South Africa to reach AFCON semi finals

Nigeria beat South Africa 2-1 to make the semi-final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The victory was the first for the Eagles over Bafana Bafana in six matches in all competitions.

Collins made his debut in the 2019 AFCON against South Africa and held his own. 6.5/10.

Chidozie Awaziem

He has been the revelation of the Nigerian team so far and he continued with a fantastic performance. 7/10

Oghenekaro Etebo

The Stoke City midfielder was magnificent in midfield, cutting out attacks from the Bafana Bafana players and hit the post with a well taken freekick. 8/10

Wilfred Ndidi

The Leicester City star was solid in midfield and continued to grow a formidable partnership with Etebo in central midfield. 7.5/10

Alex Iwobi

The Arsenal midfielder enjoyed a great match and ran the show in the final third for the Eagles. 8.5

Ahmed Musa

Musa’s pace was a threat throughout until he was substituted but his final ball still needs to improve. 7/10

Samuel Chukwueze

The 20-year-old Villareal star played without fear and scored his first goal for the Super Eagles on his seventh appearance for the team. Hands down the best player on the pitch. 9/10.

Odion Ighalo

Ighalo did not have his best game but occupied the central defenders of the South Africans which was clever. 6/10


Moses Simon

He provided the assist that Ekong scored from but he did not go past his markers like Musa. 5/10

Leon Balogun

The Brighton defender was a very late replacement for Alex Iwobi and was not able to show enough to get ratings.N/R
